The Singapore Stewardship Principles for Responsible Investors (SSP) Networking Series is a bi-annual event that gathers signatories and industry members to discuss key issues in the investment landscape.
The first event of the year was held on 4th April 2023, and we were delighted to have Mr Mark Babington, Executive Director at the Financial Reporting Council (UK), share his perspective on stewardship trends in the investment industry. This was followed by a panel discussion, featuring experts who will shed insights on how they fulfil their fiduciary duties and integrate environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into their investment mandate.

Liza Jansen
Head of Responsible Investment, Prudential
Liza is Head of Responsible Investment at Prudential. She is accountable for the responsible investment strategy for all markets in which Prudential operates across Asia and Africa. This includes setting ambitious responsible investment targets with special attention for the challenges in emerging markets and the trade-off between responsible investment initiatives and the risk/return profile of the portfolio. Before joining Prudential, she was an investment strategist at PGGM, where she focused on responsible investment and strategic asset allocation.
Daniel Leung FCCA
Country Manager – Singapore, ACCA
Daniel Leung is the Country Manager for ACCA Singapore where he is responsible for leading our external engagement with regulatory bodies, government agencies and partners. He works closely with our membership, employers, learning and policy teams to deliver ACCA’s Singapore strategic priorities and deliver change for public good. He is a fellow of ACCA and qualified during this training contract with Deloitte London. Prior to joining ACCA, Daniel spent over 15 years working at Deloitte, HSBC, Barclays and Santander across London and Singapore. At Deloitte, Daniel provided Regulatory Advisory Services to Financial Services Clients and was involved in several high profile engagements. This included an industry wide Regulatory Remediation project on behalf of the Financial Conduct Authority for one of the largest banks in the world. He was involved in assisting a major global bank headquartered in the UK to comply with the Ring-Fencing legislation. He was also seconded to the internal audit teams of clients to undertake internal control reviews. Daniel was part of the Deloitte Fintech Team and Deloitte Multicultural Network. During his time based in London at the various Banks, Daniel had experience across Compliance, Operational Risk, Change Management, Conduct Risk and Finance Transformation. This included working closely with stakeholders across the bank and providing independent review and challenge to their risk management processes. Daniel is actively involved with the diversity and inclusion panel at the British Chamber of Commerce to raising awareness and promoting D&I in the workplace.
Rajeev Peshawaria

At Goldman, Rajeev helped found Pine Street − the firm’s acclaimed leadership academy − and headed Pine Street for Europe and Asia. In his early career, he was a banker and currency trader.

Alizakri Alias
Chairman, Malaysia Venture Capital Management Bhd. (MAVCAP)
Alizakri Alias is the Chairman of Malaysia Venture Capital Management Berhad (MAVCAP) which is the largest Malaysian VC as well as tasked by the Government to develop and add value to the VC ecosystem. Alizakri serves on the board of notable public and public listed companies such Malaysia Airlines, Malaysia Aviation Group, Petronas Dagangan Berhad, Bumi Armada Berhad and Prudential BSN Takaful Berhad. He is also a trustee of Yayasan Hasanah (foundation set up by Khazanah) as well as Yayasan Amanah Mahkota which is exploring on unlocking the natural capital of the State of Pahang.
Alizakri was the Chief EPF Officer of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) which is one of the largest provident funds in the world (USD250bn AUM as at Dec 2020). He joined the EPF on 1 January 2014 as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer for the Strategy Division, overseeing national policies on social protection, and developing EPF products and services. He was also an ex-officio member of the EPF Board and Investment Panel. During his time there, he launched several ground-breaking initiatives such as the first Asian provident fund to establish sustainability investment policy, set up the Malaysia Social Protection Council chaired by the Prime Minister, Malaysia@Work and the Malaysia Social Security Blueprint.
Alizakri has extensive experience covering fund management and the financial industry, public sector administration and central banking, media and telecommunications, property development, plantations and oil and gas. He is also passionate in the areas of social security where he served as Vice Chair of Technical Commission on Organisation, Management & Innovation of International Social Security Association (ISSA) and the Secretary-General of Asean Social Security Association (ASSA).
Alizakri is also the proud founder of PAN Productions Kuala Lumpur which has won multiple awards for excellence in the musical theatre genre since 2010. Other than producing musicals, Alizakri also performs onstage (for which he was nominated for Kakiseni’s Best Supporting Actor award in 2016).
