The Singapore Stewardship Principles for Responsible Investors (SSP) Networking Series is a bi-annual event that gathers signatories and industry members to discuss key issues in the investment landscape.

Sustainable investing stands at a crossroads, presenting both challenges and opportunities for corporations and investors. As efforts in sustainable practices and ESG (environment, social and governance) integration intensify, questions linger regarding the tangible impact on both financial returns and societal well-being. Businesses and investors have to navigate the "paradoxes" of doing well and doing good.

Speakers

Daniel Leung FCCA

Country Manager – Singapore, ACCA

Daniel Leung is the Country Manager for ACCA Singapore where he is responsible for leading our external engagement with regulatory bodies, government agencies and partners. He works closely with our membership, employers, learning and policy teams to deliver ACCA’s Singapore strategic priorities and deliver change for public good. He is a fellow of ACCA and qualified during this training contract with Deloitte London. Prior to joining ACCA, Daniel spent over 15 years working at Deloitte, HSBC, Barclays and Santander across London and Singapore. At Deloitte, Daniel provided Regulatory Advisory Services to Financial Services Clients and was involved in several high profile engagements. This included an industry wide Regulatory Remediation project on behalf of the Financial Conduct Authority for one of the largest banks in the world. He was involved in assisting a major global bank headquartered in the UK to comply with the Ring-Fencing legislation. He was also seconded to the internal audit teams of clients to undertake internal control reviews. Daniel was part of the Deloitte Fintech Team and Deloitte Multicultural Network. During his time based in London at the various Banks, Daniel had experience across Compliance, Operational Risk, Change Management, Conduct Risk and Finance Transformation. This included working closely with stakeholders across the bank and providing independent review and challenge to their risk management processes. Daniel is actively involved with the diversity and inclusion panel at the British Chamber of Commerce to raising awareness and promoting D&I in the workplace.

Sunil Puri

Senior Vice President, Research & Engagement, Stewardship Asia Centre

Sunil leads the Research and Engagement team. He is responsible for research and thought leadership, and he designs educational programmes, events, toolkits and frameworks.

Prior to joining SAC, Sunil was a Senior Director, Research, Innovation and Product Development with Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) in Singapore and India, where he led the development of new products (events, programs, tools) based on research, partner with clients as a leadership subject-matter expert and develop annual research agenda with global stakeholders to execute research initiatives. Between 2014 and 2016, he was the Head of Research & Insights with Human Capital Leadership Institute (HCLI), where he led Pan-Asia research initiatives on “Asian leader development”, facilitate programs for senior business and HR leaders. He also worked as an Independent Consultant in India for a few years and was with CEB India (now Gartner) in India and USA for 8 years.

Sunil graduated with a Master of Technology in Energy Studies from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He also has an Executive MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He has authored several research studies and wrote articles for Economic Times, The Business Times and Harvard Business Review.

In his free time, he likes to go hiking and running. He likes music and plays a few musical instruments.

Chow Jau Loong

Research and Advocacy Manager, Stewardship Asia Centre

Jau Loong engages with stakeholders to drive conversations and foster responsible practices within the business and investor community. He is a pivotal member of the team that published the revised Singapore Stewardship Principles for Responsible Investors in 2022, and has contributed articles and reports on stewardship and sustainability for the organisation. Jau Loong holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Politics from the University of Sheffield.

Ng Keng Boon

Head of Strategic Partnership and Operations, Stewardship Asia Centre

Keng Boon graduated with an MBA (Strategy) from Nanyang Technological University. He also has an MBA (Management of Technology) from Waseda University, an MSc (Industrial & Systems Engineering/Project Management) from the National University of Singapore and Master of Engineering from Nanyang Technological University. Prior to joining SAC, Mr Ng was a Business Development Director with the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). He is an experienced business development professional whose experience spans across the executive education, technology and consulting sectors. Mr Ng started his career as a management consultant and honed his business development skills in companies such as Data Storage Institute (SDI), Seidensha Singapore, and A*Star.
